ROOT CANAL TREATMENT

for painful, damaged or infected teeth

Dental root canal treatment, also known as endodontic treatment, is usually needed if your tooth is painful, infected or damaged. The purpose of root canal treatment is to remove any infection from the tooth and to essentially save the tooth and keep it healthy so that it doesn’t have to be removed.

During the early stages of infection, you may feel little or no pain. However, if left untreated then the infection will spread through the root canal system and could result in removal of the tooth.

In order to salvage any teeth that are affected, dental root canal treatment will be required. After the affected tooth is anaesthetised, a series of files are used to remove the nerve tissue from the tooth. Once the tooth is cleaned, a filling is placed into the root canal complex and then the tooth is sealed with a crown.
