MAINTAINING HEALTHY TEETH AND GUMS

to help prevent gum disease

Long term plaque build-up is a leading cause of gum disease. The bacteria in plaque attacks our gums above and below the gumline to make them red and inflamed. This is the most common cause of tooth decay and eventual loss of tooth.

To reduce the plaque load, we recommend dental hygiene appointments at least every six months with our friendly and professional hygienist, Kiran.

VISITING THE DENTAL HYGIENIST

and what the appointment involves

Our hygienist, Kiran, will check for any signs of gum disease, inflammation and bleeding as well as remove any plaque build-up on all surfaces of your teeth. This plays a crucial role in reducing any oral health problems.

She will check the tissues of the mouth and conduct an oral cancer screening at each visit and advise on good oral hygiene techniques at home. She will do this by looking at how you currently brush your teeth, and if/ how you use any other necessary cleaning instruments such as floss and interdental brushes (which is especially important for patients who have braces and dental implants).
